-    CDC is seeking assistance from WB and other development partners for capacity building on PPIs.

B.    Progress on Joint Monitoring Indicators

  1. If there are any Joint Monitoring Indicator(s) agreed at the 1st CDCF in June 2007 that fall within the mandate of this TWG, please list the JMIs below and indicate progress that has been made toward achieving the JMI targets. Please take care to indicate if resource needs or appropriate timeframes still need to be identified.

1.   Relevant agencies (i.e. MOC, MoH, MAFF, MIME and MEF) to sign and implement the Service Level Agreement, attaching agreed – upon lists of prohibited goods between trade related agencies.

 

Pending

Lack of understandings on the real nature of the issue. Each target has to be interpreted with common goal and great aspiration

Lead agency has been appointed. However, compromise among relevant agencies on the issues is needed.

Further TA from Development Partner is needed to finalize the Agreement.

2.   Review implementation of risk management and act accordingly to reduce the inspection rate to fifty percent including in SEZ’s. Review to be conducted under the purview of the Sub-Steering Committee on Trade Development.

 

 

SAD has been finalized and list of prohibited and restricted goods has been adopted. They will be implemented after the signing of Service Level Agreement.

Inspection rate is gradually reduced and expected to be further minimized in the coming months.

Lack of capacity and knowledge of the relevant officials implementing the Risk Management System

TA on HRD in this issue is necessary

3.   Make specific recommendations on 20 priority licenses impacting on SMEs to ensure relevancy, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.

 

MIME is in the process of reviewing those recommendations through discussions within WG and Sub-Committee on SMC
